Here, you will find a comprehensive list of requirements applicable to the majority of German universities. While there may be slight variations between institutions, this guide aims to provide a standardized overview to facilitate your understanding and preparation.
Students are eligible to enroll in the Studienkolleg if they achieve a minimum unweighted Cumulative Grade Point Average (CumGPA) of 3.0. Students have to also provide evidence of completing the following subjects:
16 academic units from 9th to 12th grade:

If the student only completed grade 10-12 at the high school, then only 3 units for English are required.
Please note: Up-coming winter term 2019/2020 German universities will no longer accept a Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) in addition to the High School Diploma for direct admission.
Students from Egypt or the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, being educated under an American school system have to fulfill the following requirements in order to attend a German University:
Students that have done GCE AS & A Levels are eligible for direct admission if they meet the following requirements:
A total of four subjects are required, which must be independent of one other and have general education, non-vocational content.
At least three A-Levels of which must be a language exam (literature is NOT accepted) and an exam in mathematics or natural sciences (physics, chemistry, biology).

If the student does not fulfil the requirements above, the student can still enroll at the university after joining the Studienkolleg and successfully completing the “Feststellungsprüfung” (FSP) for the corresponding field of study.

If you would like to begin a Master’s course after your undergraduate studies, this is what you need to know about admission criteria.
In order to apply for a Master’s course in Germany, you generally need to have completed undergraduate studies in a related subject.
At some universities you can already apply before completing your first degree.
Your degree must be equivalent to a German bachelor degree. This involves the following criteria, among others: The initial degree must be attained at a university which is recognized (accredited) according to the laws of the country in question. Some countries also require the course of study itself to be accredited.
You can check the recognition of your university using the information portal "anabin" of the Central Office for Foreign Education (ZAB). This is also where you can find out if your degree is equivalent to a German bachelor degree.

Depending on the course of study you are interested in, your initial degree course will need to be equivalent to a German bachelor course with a duration of 3, 3.5 or 4 years. You can find out on anabin which German degree is equivalent to your undergraduate degree.

In Germany, many master’s courses are taught in German. Therefore, you generally need to show adequate proficiency in German.
Some courses are offered in English. You will need English Test Report. (Ielts, Toefl, Duolingo).In that case, you need little or no proficiency in German. You can find an overview of international university courses using the DAAD database “International Programmes”.

Not all universities accept applications with preliminary educational certificates. Some only do so if the bachelor course took place in Germany or an EU country. If accepted, you will need an attestation from your university on your future degree and the studies completed so far.
